Keur Niaye (the elephant house in Wolof) is located behind the "streets" of the main village of Toubacouta in a quiet area on a wooded and shaded ground.

Keur Niaye is a quiet place [where] many birds can be observed in the morning [during] [breakfast, lunch or the evening]. [This is very relaxing after a whole day in the bush or on the water].

In just a few minutes, you can reach the edge of the lagoon, to the "beach" or pontoon named “douaniers.” There is also a small daily market in the village. During your stay you will have many opportunities to explore this market, away from the ‘hustle and bustle’ of Sokone which is the largest market in the region. Visiting the daily market in the village gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and language.
